I've finished Copenhagen Calling one week before flying up to Portland for our vacation. Considering it's been snowing up there recently and will be very chilly when I'm there next week, knitting this was a really good call.
The minty green speckled yarn is called 'Mighty Matter' from Republic of Wool's Superwash Merino and the dark green is 'All Spruced Up' from Knitsomniac Designs' Nocturne DK. They contrast in a fun way while still being my favorite color.
I've never tried mosaic knitting before. As it turns out, it's quite easy and creates a really intricate effect. If you can knit and slip knit stitches, you can do this. The Ugly Ducking Socks do this and I'm really tempted to make a pair.
It blocked out about three inches taller than stated on the pattern, so I don't know if my gauge was off or I just blocked it too much. I haven't blocked lace before and I didn't think it mattered as much because it's not a fitted garment.
I'm digging a knitted hat out for the trip and I even found a small cowl for Brody to wear to Portland. Now if only I had time to knit a pair of gloves.
